Travel back to Notting Hill Carnival in the '80s with a new photozine.

Notting Hill Carnival 1983 collects black-and-white works from the enduring cultural celebration by Scottish photographer Peter Anderson via Café Royal Books. Photos show intimate looks of sound system crews, dancers and revellers, MCs and the street party scenes in west London.

It's Anderson's third photobook for the independent publisher, following Glastonbury 1981 / Reading 1980 and Youth Culture 1980s. Café Royal Books has also published historic photography collections of Notting Hill Carnival from as far back as 1974, by Chris Miles, as well as a photozine focused on sound systems by Brian David Stevens.

This past edition of Notting Hill Carnival in August marked 30 years of Rampage Sound System. Revisit this recent interview with founder Mike Anthony reflecting on three decades and looking ahead to the future of Rampage.

Notting Hill Carnival organiser and pioneer Linett Kamala is running a workshop and mentorship programme to support women in soundsystem culture called the Original Sounds Colllective

Earlier this year, the home of Claudia Jones, credited as Notting Hill Carnival's "founding spirit", was honoured with an English Heritage blue plaque.
