Pioneer DJ has updated rekordbox to version 6.0.2, addressing some bugs reported by users since the new version dropped earlier this year. The new version addresses issues around rekordbox crashing on launch, as well as issues exporting tracks that have been sync'd to Pioneer DJ's new Cloud Library Sync. Other issues such as remixer metadata from Beatport LINK have also been addressed. Other updates include:
Pioneer DJ has added a new feature that analyses tracks and detects where vocals are on the waveform. Pioneer DJ says “This is possible thanks to AI technology with deep-learning capabilities embedded in the software’s new music analysis algorithm, which we co-developed with Japanese tech company Qosmo.”
Pioneer DJ has announced a major update to rekordbox. Version 6 adds a feature called Cloud Library Sync, allowing users to upload their collections to a linked Dropbox account, where they can access it across a maximum of four devices. Metadata and analysis information is also stored in the cloud and can be edited and sync’d back to the cloud.
Pioneer DJ has made their mix recording and streaming app DJM-REC free for 90 days. The original trial period of 30 days has been extended to 90 and users who exhausted their trial already have had their limit reset, so can use the app again for free.
Pioneer DJ has been sold by owners KKR equity firm to Japanese company Noritsu for $606 million. The sale comes off the back of a change of corporation name last year to AlphaTheta, when Pioneer DJ said: “Our brands and brand names, including Pioneer DJ, will not be affected. We’re updating our corporate name to better reflect our values and vision. The change is not related to any merger, sale, or reorganization.”
