Fiyahdred will release a new two-track EP, ‘Overtime/Wining Train’, later this week via Club Djembe. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Wining Train’ below.

Coming off the back of their 2022 Rhythm Section debut, along with releases via Hyperdub and Goonclub Allstars, the South-London DJ, producer, and multidisciplinary artist (formerly known as Bamz) continues to hone their spacious, smoky take on UK funky.

Their newest EP arrives via Bristol’s Club Djembe imprint — a bustling nucleus for global club sounds — and boasts a double dose of soulful house with waist-winding, soca rhythms and R&B-flecked vocals. Since shedding their previous moniker two years ago, the Night Slugs affiliate has experienced a renewed sense of invention and agency; adopting both production and vocal duties and leaning into a prismatic palette of UK and Afrodiasporic sounds.

‘Overtime’ tees up a project of many complimentary flavours, with a sultry top line layered over a signature snare drum shuffle, while ‘Wining Train’ loosens the limbs further with syncopated riddims, strobing bass stabs, and a giddy assortment of bells and whistles. It’s an assured release that finds Fiyahdred continuing to bring their own colourful flair and flavour to a dark and intense era of UK music.

The two-tracker marks the producer’s second jaunt on the Bristol imprint following their contribution to 2022’s ‘Club Djembe Vol. 3’ compilation, alongside the likes of Ikonika, Bakongo, Marcus Damon, and Blck Mamba. Fiyahdred also contributed to the recent instalment of Rhythm Section’s ‘SHOUTS’ compilation series, where ‘Got 2 (Let It Go)’ features alongside cuts from Sally C, James Bangura, Juju Rogers, Martyn Bootyspoon, Yak, and DJ Pitch.

‘Overtime/Wining Train’, out 18th August, is available to pre-order here.  Listen exclusively to ‘Wining Train’ below.
