Glastonbury’s Block9 announces return of Genosys

Honey Dijon, SYREETA, Eliza Rose, Ahadadream and more are set to perform on the Genosys stage

Glastonbury’s Block9 has announced the line-up for this year’s festival, including the return of its Genosys stage for the first time since 2019.

Back after a five-year hiatus, the giant brutalist structure will resume its place in Block9 West with a forward-thinking line-up of local and international talent.

Chicago luminary Honey Dijon will headline the stage on Friday night with a Genosys Returns event, alongside appearances from OK WilliamsHannah HollandFelix Dickinson and more.

On the Saturday, US scholar turned performer Madison Moore will make his Block9 debut, followed by sets from DJs Eliza RoseBASHKKA, Demi Riquísimo and more, whilst the Sunday will see Genosys celebrate the 35th Anniversary of legendary Nottingham Sound System, DiY. Other artists performing in the open-air arena across the weekend include SYREETA, NIKS, Ahadadream, Midland, Nyra and more.

“Genosys was last at Block9 in 2019 so lots of people will never have experienced it before,” Block9 founders Gideon Berger and Stephen Gallagher shared. “We have spent the last year rebuilding it ready for its triumphant return and have some amazing artists coming to join the party.”

The area’s much loved queer club NYC Downlow also returns in 2024 with sets coming from the likes of Tama Sumo & Lakuti, Prosumer, Heléna Star, DJ Spen, Nat Wendell, and Block9 head-honcho Gideön. It will also host a brand new Saturday day party, Downlow Day Party, which will be headlined by New York legend, François K.

The Meat Rack, a separate club room located inside NYC Downlow will double in size for 2024, with DJs including Peach, Guy Williams, DJ PauletteMoxie, Shay Malt, Scarlett O’Malley and more.

Block9’s colossal IICON stage will see performances this year from GoldieDeena AbdelwahedBlawan, Introspekt, DJ Python, Roni Size, Mia Koden, Tim Reaper, Afrodeutsche, and Bicep, who will present their new CHROMA (AV DJ) project.

Fashion icon and activist Katharine Hamnett is also set to join forces with Block9 in a bid to encourage attendees to vote in the UK General Election, announced on Wednesday (22nd May) to take place the week after Glastonbury.

“We are proud to join forces with Katharine Hamnett in her drive to boost voting numbers,” Berger and Gallagher shared. “The upcoming UK election will define so much in our lives and every single vote counts.”

Block9 will also partner this year with HIV prevention activists PrEPster, fundraising for a number of charities including Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) through NYC Downlow’s moustache entry policy.

The beloved Worthy Farm event will return next month from Wednesday 26th to Sunday 30th June. Other high-profile electronic names performing across the week include Orbital, Disclosure, LCD SoundsystemNia Archives, Peggy Gou, and Bonobo, as well as legendary resurgent bands, Faithless and Justice.
